"Don't Keep Walking"Have you ever passed by a strange yard and noticed out of the corner of your eye a big dog looking intently at you? In what seems a quarter of a second, your eyes notice several things: no fence, no chain and no owner. In the next quarter of a second, one simple instruction flashes across your mind: Just keep walking. "Just keep walking." Hmm. Seems like pretty good advice for a lot of circumstances we go through, doesn't it? But let's think about our relationship with God for a moment. How many times have we been going through our everyday motions and then, suddenly, out of the corner of our eye we notice an opportunity that God might be leading us into. It can be a chance to provide for a need in someone's life, maybe an opportunity to serve God's people or maybe even an invitation to grow spiritually with a small group of brothers and sisters in Christ. Okay...what do I do?...just keep walking. "Just keep walking." Hmm. It seems the simplest solution, doesn't it? Our lives are too complicated the way they are. But what about God's plan for our life and the lives of those around us? Well, here's a new approach. "DON'T keep walking." Stop. Look for God. Ask Him, "What are you showing me here, God? Do I need to invest myself in this for your glory and my growth?" Hey, when you stop, you might just notice that the dog is only a statue, the house needs to be painted and the owner is in a wheelchair and needs a ramp built. Don't keep walking.
